Pawna Lake sits in the Maval belt between Lonavala and Kamshet, ringed by the Sahyadri hills and three of Maharashtra's most photographed forts — Tikona, Lohagad and Visapur. It is close enough to Mumbai and Pune for a Friday-night departure, and far enough from the highway that the evenings are genuinely quiet.
Most people arrive at Pawna for lakeside camping, and for a certain kind of trip that works. But camping means shared tents, common washrooms, no air conditioning and a hard stop when the weather turns. A private villa solves all of that: proper bedrooms with attached bathrooms, a pool nobody else uses, a kitchen or in-house catering team, secure parking, and space for a group of 15 to 25 people to spread out instead of queueing.
For families with young children or elderly parents, mixed friend groups, and anyone planning a birthday or anniversary, the villa route is usually the only one that actually works.

How to Reach Pawna Lake
- From Mumbai — about 110 km, 2.5 hours. Take the Mumbai–Pune Expressway, exit at Lonavala, then drive via Kusgaon and Braman Oli toward the lake.
- From Pune — about 55 km, 1.5 hours. Head out on the old Mumbai–Pune highway via Kamshet, then turn off toward Pawna Dam.
- By train — the nearest stations are Lonavala and Kamshet on the Mumbai–Pune line; both are a 25–40 minute cab ride from the lakeside villas.
- Road condition — the final stretch is a narrow village road. Sedans manage it comfortably in dry weather; in heavy monsoon, an SUV is more comfortable.
Things to Do around Pawna Lake
- Tikona Fort — a compact, steep hill fort with a roughly one-hour climb and a clear view over the lake. Best attempted early morning.
- Lohagad and Visapur Forts — the two best-known treks in the Maval region, both within a 30–40 minute drive.
- Kayaking and boating — available seasonally at several points along the shoreline, subject to water level and local operator availability.
- Kamshet paragliding — India's best-known paragliding base, about 25 minutes from the lake, running roughly October to May.
- Bhushi Dam and Lonavala market — for a half-day trip out of the villa, about 40 minutes away.

Frequently Asked Questions
How far is Pawna Lake from Mumbai and Pune?
Pawna Lake is roughly 110 km from Mumbai (about 2.5 hours by road via the Mumbai–Pune Expressway) and about 55 km from Pune (about 1.5 hours). Most guests exit the expressway at Lonavala and drive another 25–30 minutes to the lakeside villas.
Do Anaya Villas properties near Pawna Lake have private pools?
Yes. Mantra 147, our villa near Pawna Lake, has an infinity-edge private pool plus a jacuzzi, reserved exclusively for your group with no sharing.
Is a villa near Pawna Lake better than camping?
Camping at Pawna is popular but basic — shared tents, common washrooms and no climate control. A private villa gives you proper bedrooms, attached bathrooms, a private pool, a full kitchen or in-house catering, and a secure property for families, mixed groups and late-night celebrations.
What is the best time to book a Pawna Lake villa?
October to February is the most comfortable window, with clear skies and cool evenings. The monsoon months from June to September fill the lake and turn the surrounding hills green, and are the most photogenic — but weekend dates in both windows book out four to six weeks in advance.
Can we host an event at a Pawna Lake villa?
Yes. Mantra 147 has two lawns that can host up to 180 guests, which makes it suitable for birthdays, anniversaries, engagements and intimate weddings. Message us with your headcount and date and we will confirm feasibility and pricing.
How do I book a villa near Pawna Lake?
Message us on WhatsApp at +91 98330 89023 with your dates and group size. We book direct, so there is no OTA commission added on top of the villa rent.
Are your villas near Pawna Dam itself?
Pawna Dam and Pawna Lake are the same body of water — the lake is the reservoir formed by the dam, and the villas along its shoreline are described either way. Mantra 147 sits on that shoreline stretch, roughly 25 to 30 minutes from the Lonavala expressway exit.
